These Rutlands® pocket hole plug cutters vastly improve upon the standard 2 flute design, providing a quicker, easier drilling experience and cleaner, more accurate pocket hole plugs. Used to produce an industry standard 9.5mm diameter plug, these bits are ideal for creating solid wood plugs from the offcuts of the same wood that you are working with, guaranteeing a perfect match in grain and colour for undetectable pocket hole joints.

Four razor sharp cutting teeth finely score the inside circumference of the hole, each with deep gullets designed to carry away waste and prevent the bit from clogging. The improved tooth geometry shaves the sides of the plugs as they are cut, resulting in the smoothest, most consistent finish possible. A specially designed spiral flute pattern on the outside of the bit eliminates friction within the drilled hole, preventing heat build-up and scorching of the wood whilst extending bit life. A further refinement over standard plug cutters is the wider inside diameter at the ejection window. This increases clearance around the plug, greatly improving the removal of swarf for faster cutting performance and easier plug removal.

For use in a pillar drill or drill guide, these bits are supplied with a depth stop collar and hex key to ensure precise, repeatable drilling depths and consistently sized pocket hole plugs. A 9.4mm tri-flat shank increases security within the chuck to eliminate slipping under load and provides positive location within 3 jaw chucks. Manufactured from 4241 high speed steel, hardened to HRC60-63, each bit is extremely hard wearing and engineered to retain its hardness over prolonged use, maintaining the same cutting geometry. Each bit is fully ground to ensure precise concentricity and dimensional accuracy of the plug. ©
